    Poem Commentary

The days that furture love holds

    Ahead

    I've seen the days ahead.
    They'll be bumpy.
    They'll be rough.
    We'll fight and make up.
Our days make look grim and gloomy.
They may be far away or too close for comfort.
    Our hearts may feel empty.
While our minds are filled of each other.
    I've seen the days ahead.
    And though they seem impossible.
We must have faith and believe that we'll get through it.
Our minds will clear and our hearts will be full.
    The days will become bright.
The bumps in the road will become smooth and straight.
    I've seen the days ahead.
And they're right in front of us.
    Waiting.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
