    Abused

Mother, what did I ever do
I thought you loved me, like I love you,
Why, do I always feel so used
    Why, am I always abused?

    Mother, please stop I beg
Pushed down the steps, I break my leg,
    Mother, please stop the harm
Thrown against the wall, I break my arm.

Mother, oh mother, what did I do
I always tell you, that I love you,
As I lay here, battered and bruised
Seven years old, why am I abused?

You come and hit me, in the head
I'm laying here, on the floor dead,
Coroner comes, to take me away
You will never see me again, after today.

The abuse must stop, and stop today
Give a child a chance, to grow and play,
A child should never, be battered or bruised
A child should never, be abused.

This saddens me, and one must realize that an abused child often searches for love in all the wrong places. I hope that after writing this poem, you also feel a sense of empowerment. I hope that who ever reads this can grow and realize they no longer have to be a victim.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
