    A road not yet traveled

    A smile that stopped time
but for a moment so long ago
    yet lasting eternal
    A vision I cannot forget
It haunts me to this very day
Who you were before I met you
The person that I once knew
What you became in my absence
    Retrospect and hindsight internalized
    Clarity obscured in ignorance
    Instinct ignored by intellect
    Fate is the hunter
And has found us once again
Upon a field we know far too well
    Scarred deeply upon distant shores
Victims or kindred spirits honed in battle
    searching for truth and meaning
with the hope of a child
It is this question I seek to answer
on a road not yet traveled
