    You Would Never Know

I look up and wonder why the leaves are falling from my tree.
I have kept it watered and treated it with love.

You were so pretty when you were young, with all your songs unsung, go ahead wither and leave.
It was just by chance I did not stop you down, down into the ground, from all your fooling around.
I should ask you now, that you are almost gone, was it worth it all that fooling around, when I never in my life let you down?
I stay here and think of all pleasure we shared but you just could not measure the time you had and now you are losing your leaves.
I loved you for all the shade you gave me and the warmth of your strong limbs wrapped around me with your branches going this way and that. but still confined.
Maybe I'll grow a new tree, this time only for me,
I'll kiss it and give it hugs and fill it with water.
Oh tree, you die. Go ahead.
I'll take a new one to my bed.

I like the imagery in this poem, it makes me feel the emotion

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
