    • Hello fellow poets. I am originally from a very small very remote town in the woods of northern Maine.The town had a population of 560 souls.I was brought up( in what some would consider to be) abject poverty.If I was I never knew it. Simply due to the fact that everyone around me was in the same "boat".I have been writing from my teens. I enjoy the woods to this day. I hunt fish and hike whenever possible.And through the years I've learned that there is a God and that I'm not it. "SLIM"

    WHO

      WHO WILLWAGE THE FINIAL BATTLE?
    WAGE THE FINIAL WAR?
    WHO WILL CALL THE FINIAL MUSTER?
    KEEP THE FINIAL SCORE?

    WHAT WILL BE THE BATTLE CRY
    FOR THOSE ONES GLORY BOUND?
    WHO WILL BURY THE LAST TO FALL
    INTO THE HALLOWED GROUND?

    WHO WILL LIGHT THE ETERNAL FLAME
    WHEN LAST THE FIRES DIE
    WHO WILL MORN THE FALLEN DEAD
    WHO'LL BE LEFT TO CRY?

    WHAT MENTION OF THERE GLORY
    WILL DO THEM HONOR THEN?
    PROVING TRUE IT IS THE SWORD
    THATS MIGHTER THAN THE PEN.

    very good questions slim, although i wonder sometimes, is it the sword that is mightier because of the finality in which it's blow brings? or is the pen ultimately mightier in the lesson it can bring the bearer of the sword so much more insight and wisdom about the use of the sword? if you had the choice yesterday to make the decisions of today, could their outcomes be different than they were? is it possible to touch the lives of the sword bearers and allow them the lessons of restraint? one word could change the outcome of one world.

    true enough atonel.and I do agree that,perhaps,one word could possibly change the outcome of(if not the world)the battle.Unfortunately,words are spoken by men.Are not all the "treatys" ever broken but words?Was it not "the shot heard round the world"?Rather than "the word"?I do not contend the strength of the written wond.Merely the men who write them.Thank you for taking the time to read my work.I go now to do the same for you. poetically yours:Slim
