Whiskey Colored Dreams
Unprotected in my dreams
left alone at night,
flashbacks of loving you
always seem so right.
I put on a happy face
on the outside everything looks fine.
On the inside I'm so lonely,
I truly wish that you were mine.
Reaching for the bottle
trying to block out your memory.
I can't get you out of mind
there's just not enough whiskey.
Drowning in my shot glass
are all my hopes and fears.
If I can just drink some more
the memory of you will disappear.
Calling you on the phone
after I've had too many to drink.
I try to be indifferent
but my tongue catches and I can't speak.
I can feel my heart,
its breaking in two.
Maybe just another shot
and I won't think of you.
Twelve steps mean nothing to me;
I've already tried my best.
You're so far away from me,
you've ruined me for all the rest.
I can't promise to be sober
or that I won't have whiskey on my breath
because drinking is the only way
to deal with why you left.
left alone at night,
flashbacks of loving you
always seem so right.
I put on a happy face
on the outside everything looks fine.
On the inside I'm so lonely,
I truly wish that you were mine.
Reaching for the bottle
trying to block out your memory.
I can't get you out of mind
there's just not enough whiskey.
Drowning in my shot glass
are all my hopes and fears.
If I can just drink some more
the memory of you will disappear.
Calling you on the phone
after I've had too many to drink.
I try to be indifferent
but my tongue catches and I can't speak.
I can feel my heart,
its breaking in two.
Maybe just another shot
and I won't think of you.
Twelve steps mean nothing to me;

You're so far away from me,

I can't promise to be sober
or that I won't have whiskey on my breath
because drinking is the only way
to deal with why you left.
