War

Green lamps in my eyes hide the stupid things that I’ve done

Hiding under a cloud of blue skies like a smoking gun

Needle teeth sheathed by naked lips

Atomic mushrooms sheathed in a halo of sinking ships

Waiting in gloom watching the clock sweat

A king’s ransom couldn’t break lovers’ debt

Slow to surface I can wait

Rolling cameras can’t outrun fate

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
