Dead World

Dead World

I'm quickly becoming part of the machine
Washing out the humanity until my gears and sprokets are clean
Learning to speak and think for the greater good
And stepping in line like a well-trained robot should

But the polish has a flaw, and the paint is chipped
Beow the surface the metal is rusting and the screws are stripped
My mind is shackled but the chains don't reach the core
They tell me I'm satisfied but I yearn for more

So I wander in secret, my head in the stars, my feet to the road
A beast of burden made to carry their load
They tell me what to think but they can't reach my dreams
Dancing with no rythem, making music from a lost loves screams

There's a world for people like you, with a half-written poem in your head
Shape up son, because that world is dead

Nice work EmotionalWolf! Very good rhyming and word choice. It might have flowed better if broken up into stanzas rather than stated in one complete "paragraph" (for loss of a better word) Overall ... a very good job. :) ken

thanks so much! ya i know but its just easier to write it this way

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
