  • I became insane, with rare intervals of horrible sanity

vacation

Sinking my toes in the warm sand I reached for the frosty beer next to me and reclined. I had been waiting for this for quite some time, at least an entire winter. The only reminder of such low temperatures now was the beverage in my hand that tasted as if it were plucked from gods very own snow cloud. Not knowing where the sky begins and the ocean ends, simply an endless horizon. Not a thought of concern, clamor, or any nuisance whatsoever. Free to bask in my euphoria.

Perhaps I will watch the sun take a dip in ocean to cool itself off after a hard days work on such a hot day. Watch the tide reach out to the moon floating above our heads in the sea of stars. Sense the tide’s desire to drift me out on a journey, just like the ships it takes at dawns light. Perhaps… But for the moment I’ll settle for another beer.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
