One Chance

  • I became insane, with rare intervals of horrible sanity

One Chance

If I do not do this now

I will wonder for the rest of my life,

What would have happened?

In these words I may act like a fool,

But that is because you have stolen my heart

And in return I am trying to win yours.

I have never looked the part of a hopeless romantic,

But in these last few days I have uncovered

An unknown part of myself.

And they say a man may spend his entire life searching

Searching for a perfect blossom

And it would not be a wasted life.

Well I believe I have found my perfect blossom,

Which is your beauty.

Your beauty is beyond describable words.

I would give up all of eternity to spend one day with you.

Because I would never be happy in all of eternity without you.

So I ask you to give me at least one chance to be with you.

If you say no,

My heart will be shattered into such small pieces,

That a blind man could easily slip them through the eye of a needle.

If you say no,

These days will be the last of my emotional life

And I will come out a drastically changed man.

Thank you SBear. I did present it to her on a card and even read it to her personally. It did get me my chance, but we did not last. Time parts all things of this world.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
