This so concerns [my being].

Ah, the profanity of those who’ve not seen

Nor felt

Nor grasped

Nor told

How sad, is it not?

That by means of egocentricity

Have perceived but nothing of true being

Yet felt, in their minds, that all is well with them.

To whom do we owe such valor?

No fear has struck them yet.

This marks their false ‘boldness’

Does it not?

And if truth be mentioned

So does ‘brushing off’ begin

And comfort then regained

Such falseness of content there is.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
