    Poem Commentary

In memory of those we've loved and lost.

    The Visit

I know you've been waiting to see me,
I'm sorry it's been so long,
But these feelings are still so fresh
And the pain is still so strong.

I've been meaning to come see you,
But all I can do is cry,
The world just hasn't been the same
      Since the day you died.

I came to bring you flowers,
      I stand here all alone,
Our love is just a memory
      Carved in marbled stone.

It's been two years since I've seen you
But I still love you all the same.
I wish we could be together,
      Instead, I visit your grave.

It's time for me to move on,
I'd better go before I cry,
Hope you're better where ever you are,
I just came to say good-bye.

anika, This is a powerful and mournful message that leaves the reader feeling that this person may have gone through hell dealing with there loss.I love the way you poignantly express your regrets. ginga

Thankyou very much for reading it! I was beginning to wonder if anyone would. Thankyou for your insightful comments and praise.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
