THE LAST FIGHT
This one was intense it went all twelve rounds
My chatter was muffled I uttered inaudible sounds
I threw my hardest and was hit even harder
I've roamed through every state like I owned my own charter
I know I should be using wisdom-well kinda sort of
But then what does it matter when everything is so out of order
Now devil you can do better or was that your best
I'm a natural born scholar, I've passed every one of your tests
At the beginning of your trials I was a bit shaken
But misplaced fear had me mistaken
For I sustained every blow, I guess you thought I was faking
You must understand that I've been a fighter since my birth
And what i've been through doesn't dictate my worth
Yeah you KO'd me at times with some mighty hard blows
But I've learned from those lessons and the maturity shows
I surprised even myself for I stood what I thought I could not
And took one more step when I thought I would not
Had to sink to the bottom before I could rise to the top
And then I took those things that I thought I couldn't take
Had to form a smile when inside my heart did ache
While praying earnestly for the rain to cease and the day to break
Unaware all along that my destiny was being shaped
I did not fail for through it all I learned
All of the lies, the untruths I have managed to burn
So now I've emerged from the rock and the rubble
My Father in heaven has promised me double for my trouble
Therefore i'm disarming, the weapons are laid down and in this i'm secure
For the battle is not mine it belongs to the Lord
Holding onto His promises and I'm gripping them tight
My gloves are off for this was/this is my last fight
My chatter was muffled I uttered inaudible sounds
I threw my hardest and was hit even harder
I've roamed through every state like I owned my own charter
