The Kiss
A kiss from my love made me a painter.
A long, long kiss- the kiss of youth and love
It is the passion that is in a kiss that gives to it
It sweetness; it is the affection in a kiss that sanctifies it.
Kisses are like grains of gold or silver found upon the ground
Of no value themselves, but precious as showing that a mine is near.
It is old as the creation and yet young and fresh as ever.
It pre-existed, still exist and always will exist.
Leave but a kiss in the cup, and I’ll not look for wine
Four sweet lips, two pure souls, and one undying affection
These are love’s ingredients for a kiss.
I kissed her and promised such beautiful lips
Man’s usual fate- he was lost upon the coral reefs.
I clasp her waist; I feel her bosom’s beat
O, kiss me to faintness, sweet and dim,
Upon your check I lay this zealous kiss
As a seal to the indenture of my love
Her soft lips have tempted me to eternity of kissing.
Now by the jealous Queen of heaven,
That kiss I carried from thee, dear,
My true lip has virgin it ever since.
I felt the while a pleasing kind of smart;
The kiss went tingling in my panting heart.
When it was gone, the sense of it did stay;
The sweetness clanged upon my lips all day,
Like drops of honey, loth to fall away
Her kisses are as full sanctity as the touch of a holy bread.
Once she drew, with one long kiss
My whole soul through my lips
Then she kissed me hard, as if she plucked up kisses
By the roots, that grew upon my lips.
A long, long kiss- the kiss of youth and love
It is the passion that is in a kiss that gives to it
It sweetness; it is the affection in a kiss that sanctifies it.
Kisses are like grains of gold or silver found upon the ground
