    Her Parting From Me

Since she is gone, I must mourn, so come night
Envelope me with moon light as I write
Shadow that fall unto me, that alone
I am to suffer when she is gone.
Alas the strongest magic cannot do it,
For fear and pains in heart troubles beneath it .
No more couple trip to the natural garden
For within the garden her face is hidden
Why bold in emotion but coward to propose
To her as a beloved husband but risky to suppose

Have we proved all love by our act?
Yet her pains inwards and my panting heart.
And after all this pass purgatory
Must sad divorce make us vulgar story?
Please let our arms clasp like Ivy, and our fear
Freeze us together that we may stick here,
    For this to the comfort of my dear I vow;
My deeds shall be what my words now.
Take therefore all in me; I love so true,
As I will never look for less in you

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
