The Good Race
The good race
As you begin your good race with the lord
Put on your helmet, your armor and sword
To defend your mind from the evil ones pests
For your race will be long and full of tests
The race will be good, not slow nor too fast
It’s the one who endureth, the one who can last
Your trials will come, for this you will know
So always be ready for its love you should sow
The race will be good and your faith should be strong
So run your course right, stay away from the wrong
Jesus has said “seek the kingdom of god first”
For if you do this, you’ll never hunger nor thirst
The race will be good and your blessings are there
To those in obedience to the one who will care
The lord will not forsake you, nor leave you alone
So don’t sit around and complain, murmur or moan
The race will be good, until the day has come
When the lord returns with sounds from the drum
So run your race pure and run it with love
For your prize is fulfilled in the heavens above
