    the cheering up rose

    you were crying
    i had just met you
    your best friend
    gave me the ride
    to the store
    i bought you the rose
    to cheer up
    but you didnt want it
    so i waited for you
    to sleep and wrote you
    a cheerful poem
    put them on your doorstep
with your name but not mine
    and you loved it
    but you didnt suspect me
so it makes me happy to know
that i can cheer you up
    without having to worry about
if i look ok or if im the right type
my rose did what i meant for it to do
and that was to cheer you up

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
