The Candle

Poem Commentary

A shape poem I did when I was in High School. :)

The Candle

So

Hot,

Bright

As you

Dance

In the

Nite.

A

Curiosity,

Boggling

The mind.

Melting

Away, yet

You never

Give up.

From tall

To short,

You can’t

Grow back,

But you

Still keep

Shining,‘til

The last

Drop of

Your being

Is gone.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
