The Beginning

I am taking my like back
This struggle will be a distant memory
I am the only one that hold the key
My happiness is a fact
I will never go back

I will hold my head up high
I will dust myself off and avoid the lies
You though you had me
I will never be the woman you want me to be
I came from generations of strong black women

If you are looking for a weak one
It damn sure is not me
That is why I am gone

No n**ga don't cry
I just caught on to your lies

You are walking around like you are the sh*t
While another n**ga is sucking my clit

Remember when I told you N**gas is like busses
As soon as you tripped a new bus arrived
Don't walk around like you have been deprived

Like I said this is my new beginning
And our ending... Peace!!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
