Once a boy and now a man
Give up freedom lend a hand
Eight weeks of training then Iran
Take it back to the Army man

Soldier boy...
Soldier girl...
Lets all be soldiers in this crazy world
Give it up for them boys and girls

A loveless mother without her child
Joins the troops for awhile
Her baby girl always on her mind
Lets here it for the woman with the heart of gold

Sound off
One, two
Sound off
Three, four
Sound off...
Let's hear it for the army man

Sound off
One, two
Sound off
Three, four
Sound off...
Let's hear it four our girls out there

Here come the troop on the march
Ready to make the Red Sea part
Here come the troops on the march
They're gona give us all a brand new start...

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
