    Simple Gifts

    My gifts to you:

    One kiss for each eye

    that they would see love

    every time they open.

    One breath upon your nose

    That it would know

    the fragrance of life

with the rise and fall of your chest.

    One caress upon your lips

    that they be forever warm

    with the sweetness

    of my passion.

    One touch upon your skin

    that would impart a gentleness

    comfort that you're never alone.

    One heart, forever yours

    that you should know

love is but a simple gift

    without measure, without condition

    but always yours.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
