    Satin Shades

    Spring bursts into life
    With vim and vigor
Bulbs break open the soil firm
In a sudden show of satin shades
    While the sun’s glorious rays
    Surpasses shadows, as it shines
Water in the rivers grow ever swifter
As snow melts on higher grounds
Among goslings and ducklings new life does spring
As nature begins to dance and sing
Birds chirping nearby geese honking the sound are clear
Nature’s new beginning arrives for another year

Even though amongst all the new life
    Nature is seemingly cruel.
    I found a wounded duckling,
In regret there was nothing I could do,
Except leave it to its mother who stayed near until it passed
At least it was not alone in nature’s glorious mass

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
