Bottled Water

Bottled Water

Water, water the world over
Cascaded out of sprinklers
Even as we watch, it pours
What it needs is to be stored
Does life fit in this container,
No matter what the retainer?
If you try to put it in there,
Do we have enough to share?
People consume it everyday,
Without realizing the price, they pay.
What will we try to bottle next, air?
Of course we have already dared to put air in there.
If water and air are all in bottles and put in a store,
How will those with less get more?
How many bottles will each of us get?
Who will we forget?
What shall we bottle next?

Such agood metaphor for the capitalistic life we are forced to lead.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
