Rocket Science

You stepped from the shower
before me, unclean.
A myriad of thoughts race through our minds.
How did we fall away?
How do we save the time?

I cannot stand you this way,
standing in the way of where we stand.
Water is falling, vision is blurred.
Our patience of pride is washed away.

I'm not religious,
though i kneel to pray.
I'm distracted by the cumbersome depth in my way
And your better qualities show through with ease,
when i take you in from on my knees.
We're so far away.
Yet so close I can almost touch the feeling;
the rapture that once was.

Our moment is fast,
frozen inside.
And a resolution is filtered through our radial drive.
We come to an agreement,
As I swallow the why's.
We hold the moment,
long enough to dry our eyes.

And then you step into the shower,
while i lay my head.
Our requiem for love,
is left unsaid.

A very potent write... love the tone and setting... We come to an agreement, As I swallow the why's. We hold the moment, long enough to dry our eyes. ... such a strong statement... write on!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
