Poem Commentary

This is the last page of my short story Riverdragon and it shows a different form of SUICIDE!

RIVERDRAGON

How does that Kerosene pump work?"
"This key, just stick it in and turn it on"
"Now get as far away from here as possible and call the police and you will live", said Jubal as the woman ran out the store, Jubal grabbed a lighter and a 16 oz can of Budweiser out an ice barrel and hopped back in the truck, and backed out adjacent to thepumps.  Taking nozzle and squeezing handle of each setting hanle so gas spewed out of each onto the ground.  He did the same with Kerosene pump and then began to turn on all the propane tanks in the cage settinga  mixture for a deadly explosion.  the police had began to arrive for it was reported that Jubal was armed and dangerous so when every law enforcement agency between Phenix City and Columbus arrived on the scene they positioned themselves with guns drawn and aimed at me.  Pump shotguns, .45 automatics, 9mm, .357, AR-15's, 30-30, and othe firepower I had never seen.  i took cover ont he passenger side of the truck with door open.  Popping the top off the can of beer, taking a deep squig I proceeded to take the nozzle off the diesel fuel came gushing out like pink lemondage out of a dispenser.
"Stop this is the police.  We are ordering you put the pump down and get dwon on the ground", stated the mid 30's Columbus detective as he spoke through the megaphone.
"Go ahead and shoot because my life ain't shit and if you fire a single shot with all this fuel on the ground and propane in the air and this close to all this traffic and pedestrians.  I won't be the only one to die"
Son of a bitch he's right.  Alright get this intersection blocked off 4 ways until ther is no traffic within a mile of here"
"Yes sir", replied the late 20's black-haired detective.
"hes not going to use innocent bystanders to control this situation", stated Detective Drisinki as he spoke to Jubal again through the megaphone.  "Alright Thomas you have people who do care about you and a lot to live for so if you don't want to die here tonight"
"C'mon Thomas nobody has tog et hurt here.  Just give up."  As the police scramble to cordon off the highway as instructed Jubal had taken off his shirt and saw a possible escape route through the sewer.  He would have to make good on his threat for time was running out as police began to stop traffic from coming that way.  Jubal had to time it just right.  He set int eh passenger side seat of the truck drinking on the can of beer and had begun to sprinkle purp in the swisher sweet.
"Sir he appears to be rolling a blunt."  Jubal had finished rolling his blunt and used the cigarette lighter to fire it up and as the song said he put one in the air and as he pulled on the swishwr sweet rolled blunt he pulled out his lighter and lit it, then he tossed it in the air and turned for his escape route.  When the open flame hit a strong pocket of propane in the air it immediately combusted and started a chain reaction of fire hten a large explosion that lit up the gas station, parking lot, flowing over into the streets that was only 20% evacuated.  The explosion swallowed up Jubal as he went for his undrground escape route. Love is the most powerful and creative force int eh universe.  I know this to be factual then why does my story end like this?  To be connected since birth is a blessing but it is also a curse so what is the link between death and love, death and creation?   When I saw that river dragon the river banks I knew then that the game was wrapped all nice and neatly tucked up under the tree.  I just ahd to make it to that point.
the end

HUH!!!! You ending here....WHAT!!! I have so many questions that need to be answered. This is truely an intense story, I could see myself right there behind all of the sheriffs and cops. I could feel the urgency but also laugh at the shear....obliviousness of the authorities.

Thank you for the wonderful comments and maybe we can chop it up in a chat room or two
