    REMEBER OUR NATIVE AMERICANS

Why do we not have a Native American day??
do we not bleed or breath the same way??
my people was here long before your white mans foot tread upon our shores,
we were a kind and peacefull people,
but now we are hardly heard of why is this so??
we are so few and far between we have no place to be free,
we once roamed these planes but now we have only pain,
our lives are all but changed to conform to this the white mans world
we have to sell our wears bye your roads  to only be spit on by all whom come to see,
do you not remember how our peoples blood was shed for you to be free in this so called free land??
we were sold like cattle but now have no herds to spare,
once the buffalo roamed this plane to only be taken out by white mans fair game,
just remember we was once here we are of the same blood that we all hold dear,
    we are still here!!
we survive bye our knowledge, or strengths, our words
, our ancestors whom gave up there world so you can live on our NATIVE  world!!
remember the NATIVES WHOM GAVE YOU THIS PLACE FOR ONE DAY MAYBE WE CAN SAVE OUR DWINDLING RACE!!

I have Abenaki blood on both sides, but it is spoken of rarely-I enjoy Pow Wows in the summer-other than the few spelling/grammar errors-I believe there should be a Native American Day with celebrations....Earthly

I think that all of us could learn a lesson from Native American people about learning to live peacefully with others.I feel for the pain and suffering that Native Americans have enduredand pray that there will come a day when all people can live peacefully with one another and help each other. You have written a very memorable poem, filled with pride and very strong emotion. This poem is a great tribute to all Native American People and has a great message.

Hi, snowdove. Your words have strength...visions are plain...the pain, I feel... I wrote a poem to sort of express my feelings about the beaten down Native. The title is, A Dakota Sioux...I felt as if I was with Chief sitting Bull. Thank you for this fire.......................gogant

Let it out snowdove! I've a similar poem titled YOUR PROGRESS under my other pen name ( Drivingczar ) on this site .. i'm convinced you'll enjoy reading. It's a powerful dedication to our Cherokee people and The Trail Of Tears.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
