    "A Friend"

I had a friend when I was small that you would not beleive,
It was plain that he was mine,my side he'd never leave.

The riverside is where we walked,I remember it so well,
I knew that I could tell him things,I knew he'd never tell.

And then one day it happened,in front of a car he darted,
I knew right then the day had come that we would soon be parted.

He raised his head and looked at me , I hugged him and I cried,
Something left my heart that day , the day my old dog died.

Know the feeling. You never forget them. TS

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
