Politic Sirens

Poem Commentary

This is dedicated to the political systems world-wide...

Politic Sirens

Politic Sirens

They look at us with their perforated edges,

So neat and perfect in their condescension.

They spew honey-bitter words, emit echo-empty pledges

To extinguish spotlights from truths deserving attention.

We’ve all heard them: Siren-seductresses when sights seem blocked,

With assurance of safe harbor if we follow their song.

But alas, hopes dashed as we are bashed on lie-rocks.

They fly away, never to say how they were horribly wrong.

Fib factories for deception seize whole lives and curtail,

Clip-compress-cauterize down to misconstrue bites of sound.

Entire hours of truth cocoon-trapped behind one minute veils.

They rely solely on our ignorance of inquiry to confound.

Let me rip off the blinder that tunnels my vision!

And let peripherals flood, bathing the unwashed eye.

Tell the Siren “Be silent!” Guide none to death’s decision.

Yield only to Holy, ‘til this system has died.

Great poem! " Yield only to Holy, ‘til this system has died." wE ALL SHOULD BE SO WISE! Be that as it may, there are those of us who will scream our heads off about the appointed future of this world and they will say "Prove it!" I say "watch the news." I like this.

Dee, you have a real gift. I need you to put some of these to music. Some of my old students are into producing, say the word dude.

Ha ha BlackButterfly found a gem (she's good for that). You mean the Y2K alert was all just a big scam? Now what am I gonna do with all this ammunition? Top marks!

"They rely solely on our ignorance of inquiry to confound....Let me rip off the blinder that tunnels my vision!" These words ring true. There's a lot to be said about this poem, too deep for me to express here on OP in this little box but you hit home in a lot of areas. They ring the sirens loud enough to distract us from hearing or seeing what's really going on. Removing the blindfolds and seeing the truth for yourself is the only path to freedom.... and knowledge.... VERY well done and definite 10 from me.

Yes! I see exactly where you're coming from!

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
