peace
i can smell the flowers in the lilly, eyes piercing through steel bars
leaning on concrete walls. it's so simple really,
to run barefoot through grass capturing butterflies
with an open heart, embracing these delicate creatures
with arms of appreciation and awe.
but then i'm disturbed by a thought,
rapping on the door to consciousness.
this erratic visitor
rude, intrusive, unwelcomed here.
i hear the noise loud and clear
peace whispers to me "do not let it in"
endure the knocking with stillness,
breathe in the spirit of fulfillment
even if the knock never stops
the noise will.
leaning on concrete walls. it's so simple really,
to run barefoot through grass capturing butterflies
with an open heart, embracing these delicate creatures
with arms of appreciation and awe.
but then i'm disturbed by a thought,
rapping on the door to consciousness.
this erratic visitor
rude, intrusive, unwelcomed here.
i hear the noise loud and clear
peace whispers to me "do not let it in"
endure the knocking with stillness,
breathe in the spirit of fulfillment
even if the knock never stops
the noise will.
