    OVERSIZE LOAD

    OVERSIZE  LOAD

Have you ever found yourself on the road

Alone and away from home, in the cold.

Driving alone trying to make up time

Wishing for a friend with a bottle of wine?

Following along on a day of old

Dreaming of pennies turning to gold

Road weary and tired, the eyes want to close,

Thinking of small talk, and twitching of toes.

Traffic from behind  is passing on by,

Road fumes of exhaust are trapped in my eye.

Tears are blocking the view that I need,

No place to pull over, no time to heed.

I wiped my eyes to see the road.

A sign became visible, “OVERSIZE LOAD”

I’m dizzy, confused, “where are the brakes?”

Don’t drive too long, one crash’s all it takes.
