One Hundred Years

On gilded wings sail heart and dreams
Beyond the waiting hours of time,
My life once dead, heart shaded red,
"No reason," I thought, "and no rhyme."

The was she there to ease pain and care
On the edge of four decades she sat.
Feet dangling askance, with mischievous glance
She carefully explained to me that:

She'd love me, she said, as she lay my head
To her breast, to release laden tears
She'd love me until all past dreams were real
if I promised her one hundred years.

With thought cast away, I heard my heart say
'Only this? Just time? Nothing more?'
My heart skipped its beat and had to repeat
'Only this, just open times door?'

"Dearest sweet dove, Angel of love,
One hundred years and, if you'll let me,
I'll give you beyond, what you've asked upon
And love you for all of eternity."

"You've taken my heart and become a part
Of a live, once burdened, now free."
I smiled soft at this, her touch and her kiss
And wondered how all this could be.

In a life filled with dark, she'd paused to remark
Of one hundred years of my love.
Did she truly know, my soul loved her so
I'll love her on earth and above.

Sweet Angel be mine, through all of time
I'll be with you, head laid 'gainst thy breast.
One hundred years, of laughter and tears
And further then beyond our souls rest.

The journey won't end, my lover and friend
Together we'll walk down life's way
Until we abide, on deaths other side
Still there, in our love, we will stay.
