Poem Commentary

Written for my wife, during traveling absences this is my prayer at night.

Caron's Prayer

I pray, Dearest God, that in my absence You hold her in your arms.

                        To comfort her.

I pray, Blessed God, that in my absence You touch her heart to show

                        She is loved.

I pray, Heavenly God, that in my absence You show herYour presence

                        To remove fear.

I pray, Holy God, that in my absence You caress her gently that

                        She sleep quietly.

I pray, Revered God, that in my absence You sing Your song of love

                        To remove doubt.

I pray, Serene God, that in my absence You whisper of Your strength that

                        She know courage.

I pray, Beloved God, that in my absence You speak to her confusion

                        To gain answers.

I pray, Hallowed God, that in my absence You bring me to her mind, nevermore will

                        She know loneliness.

I pray, Lord God, that you find it in Your Will to allow my absences

                        To fade away

                        That with her

                        I’ll ever be.
