    Nubian

    Nubian

    New being befitting royalty

    Every nuance of his character

    Has a prince like quality

    Starting from the poetry

In his spirit that moves me

Like the discovery of my blackness

I feel free in his attention

    Penetrating eyes take me to

    New dimensions

And his smile leaves me longing

    For the kiss of spring

    This primordial prince

    God-man

    King

    His body moves like the

    Language of my ancestors

    Flowing fluently over the ripples

    Of time

    And my mind follows him

    Like hands trace the beat

    Of the drum

I get lost in his rhythm

As the dialogue of his physique

    Speaks volumes to my soul

    I just want to hold

    His presence in my heart

    Curl myself around his essence

Like the dread in his locks

Grow in this flow and meaning of his dance

    And praise the distinction

    Of this Nubian man…
