    not anymore

She sits in front of a cracked mirror
Applying make-up to hide the scars of her past
She remembers the torment of her childhood
The tornado winds of destruction whipping through her life
Leaving her stuck in a cycle of desperation
She hears the crying of her baby
And a tear rolls down her cheek
Wishing she didn't have to do this
All she wants is someone who will treat her with respect...as an equal
    A love that doesn't hurt
As she slips into a short black dress
She dreams of a day when she is not ashamed

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
