Poem Commentary

for my goddess Nyx, and the hopes that my readers may learn to look beyond what is right in front of them, and see the dreams that surround and embrace them :)

Night

To the night sky, I raise my head,
Looking beyond what can be seen.
Like web or strands of silver thread,
Dreams are gliding over me.

Swirling drifting floating stop!
One has just caressed my cheek.

I close my eyes, outstretch my hands,
To grasp at what cannot be seen.
Thread entwined within my fingers, Im taken far to dreams unseen.

Origami petals, and amethyst skies.
Soothing streams, and neon wings of butterflies.

Golden fields, they brush my skin.
Till in the moonlight i come to stand again.

I feel your warmth.
I feel your touch.
I feel the embrace of a mothers' love.

Her voice so gentle, words so sweet.
"Child of night, I call to thee."

I raise my gaze and hear her speak,
"Be one with the soil, the birds, and trees.
Take comfort in warmth my flame brings to thee.
Breathe the sweet air, as you whisper my name,
And bathe in clear waters, at yonder stream.
Have faith in my spirit. My guidance. My truth.
For daughter you are blessed with beauty, and youth."

I heed the words as I know they are true.
Nyx would not lie, to me, nor to you.

I bid her farewell, I bid her goodnight.
Let go of my strand at mornings first light.

Blessed Be Nyx, my Goddess of Night.
