My illness

Feelings
as though the waves are crashing in again
As if the Piper's melodious song
has dulled

Will the majestic mountains
stand in my way once again
Will the Golden Door to happiness
be slammed shut

Fear has risen inside my fighting soul
Doubt, that happiness shall never
belong to me
Saddness sings it's solemn Lullabye
Shadows seep in through the cracks

I felt the warmth of the shining sun
Oh, but only for a moment
To believe I shall bask in it's brilliant rays
Seems only but a fairytail

Why can't I walk along life's journied path
With a merry song etched in my heart
Why can't the newness of each day
Be enought to excite my being

No, but I must ponder the horror to come
And muster in my mind
Painful memories
The haunting of my past shall be
my alibi

Never allowing the shining hope
To wrap it's arms around me
Screams of pain and agony
Echo inside

NO,NO, it'll never happen...
NEVER... not for me
I feel as if the dungeon chains
Have anchored me to their mirery walls

And the putrid smells of anguish
Have filled my nostrils
Darkness has draped it's curtains of doom
upon my being

Blinding me from what could be
Holding me from dancing in the light

My dream is to be dancing in the light
To swing and frolic in my flowing, white gown
In the plush meadows of efferdescent flowers
with song of the splendid birds to echo
in my starving ears

To reach up and touch a brilliant star
That only I can see
Laughter, deep felt laughter
That illluminateds from the depth of my soul

Healing from the tormented pain and haunting memories
From the words that pierced ,as if a sword
to my heart

Healing from the sickness
That has penetrated both body and mind
Keeping me paralyzed
comotose

Wake up, my Spirit, Wake up
To dance in the light
To experience the power of the Lord
Lift me, and carry me
to a higher plane

Where I can sing and harmonize
with the angels
Where peace and comfort will
engulf me

Like a banket
around a newborn baby

I loved this, it is truly lovely. A good friend of mine's wife has MS and my own mother is hospital riden and paralysed so it really met me at my heart and touched me. Thanks for sharing such a deep and insightful poem with us all!

I'm a newbie just registered, old enough to be your father, so I'm leaving a "fatherly" message. Keep writing. It's medicine for the soul. I know your fears are real. What a blessing that you have God in your heart to strengthen you. You are lovely and talented. Keep plugging. Your faith will see you through. It has sustained my wife through 40 years with sustemic lupas. I'm looking forward to lots more good stuff to come from you, puppy!

exceptional write, (is it like a blanket around a newborn) welcome to the site

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
