MIND PRISON

I've done hard-time in a prison cell
I mistakenly thought that it was Hell
Come to find out the toughest prison I'd see
is the prison I found deep inside of me
Afraid of success and afraid to fail
The fear in my mind was worse than jail
I was always worried what others might think
So I hid behind dope and all kinds of drink
I was always told that I was a leader
I chose to follow cause iot was much safer
As it turns out I have talents abound
I can draw, play huitar, and write I've found
My hidden talents are at last set free
And wherever they take me is ok with me
I'm reasy for failure as well as success
It's all part of the creative process
So never again will I imprison my mind
Open yours up and see what you find

i think everyone is imprisoned in their mind in someway or another. each person with a past that has brought them to their present....looks like you are ready to take the road where ever it may lead, that's a great way to live.

Good poem and I liked the concept, your right, a lot of people are imprisoned in there mind. Critique, misspelled words take away the flow of a good poem. smiles

Hi Sky, we should talk honey. I share your addiction for that dope. I don't write about it much but I think we can talk about having this in common. Send me a comment and I'll leave you my email so we can chat - if you'd like.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
