Life

What a funny thing.

For some it’s a blessing for others it’s a sin.

I swear sometimes my life has been cursed from the day it all began.

I learned early in life that some wishes don’t get heard,

Not every dream comes true.

Your life is what you make of it and it is all up to you.

Now that I am grown and lessons I have learned,

It’s not always what we make of life, sometimes it’s what we are thrown.

I never asked to be lied to

I never asked to be deceived

I never asked to be cheated on

God knows I’ve never asked for any of these.

I don’t see how people can do it

Stand there and look you in the eye

Tell you that they love you when they know that it’s a lie.

They tell you they’re your best friend then stab you in the back

They promise to always be there and so easily walk away

They tell you that you can trust them then tell everything you say.

Then there are those who promise to stand by your side but when the war is passing through they stand back and tell you bye.

So many times in life I’ve trusted with my heart

And each time it was broken, so trusting I do not…

I’m not even sure that I believe in friendship for those have failed me too

I know I don’t believe in best friends, they seem to be the ones to always hurt you.

Some people may not understand the way that I feel

It’s easily explained, my feelings are real.

I don’t lie

I don’t cheat

I don’t deceive

I don’t befriend someone for the benefit of me.

I am real and in this life

I will do unto others as I would have them do unto me

Yet somehow my evils say “don’t be a fool!”

“Do unto others as they do unto you!”

Life…

What a funny thing…

For some it’s a blessing, for others it’s a sin…

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
