It Begins With Me

It Begins With Me

Looking at the world of misery and despair
What can we wisely perceive
Can it be life's tests leading to testimony
Do we live in denial; do our hearts grow cold
Is our flesh vibrant just for self
And what we can gain while
Causing others a time of storms
In this life we expect to experience some rain
No matter the situation; no matter the era or cause
Are there any willing to stand and proclaim
In my life, on this issue, at this time
because I care about others;
because I want my life to
line up with the Word of God
To stand for right, to challenge visible wrongs
Do we step up and proclaim
It now begins with me

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
