In my mind I have it all worked out

In my mind I have it all worked out

In my mind I have it all worked out
When it comes to stepping up
    “For you”
    I fumble, stumble,
    With your heart
That is all I could want for ever-more
    Is this heart I adore
These dreams that seem to lay deep
    With in -My mind
    Just never find there way
To the outside of me to shine
I’m so use to my ways
    The simplest thing called
    Change
    Always gets in my way
    Without even realizing
I’m fighting it in every possibly way
As I watch you start pull away
You’re starting to fade from my sights
I’m stumbling, fumbling to find the right,
    Words to make you stay
    “Realizing”
My words are what have gotten in my way
    Nothing change for you
    Since I’ve promised you
Why should I think you’d stay?
When I know you have the spirit of
    A free bird
And now know you’re carrying the feelings
    Of being caged
When you’re meant to fly free
    My regrets
Is my words didn’t fall into action
    Before you flew away
In my mind I have it all worked out
    “So I thought”

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.
