I Thought It Was You

I Thought It Was You

I thought it was you

But I could be wrong

In my mind there are words composing a sad song

They merge with my blood and travel through my artery’s

Then accumulate in my heart

To bring about misery

In my window I stand

Staring deeply in thought

About a love that once was so rich

Now has begun to rot

In my day dream I vision you fading away

It replays in my mind every hour of every day

I’m hurting inside yet I search for reasons to hold on

Hoping that one day you will wake up and realize I am the one…

It shows that you see the pain in my eyes

You smile and pretend like everything is alright

And with the next breath it’s plain to see

That I am in love with you

And you only like me.

I thought it was you

But I could be wrong

In my mind there are words composing a sad song

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
