I Had My Chance
I had my chance,But I leaped too late.
Now as I fall,
All I can do is wait.
I failed at every trial,
Mistakes at every turn,
and in the end,
with nothing left,
I can no longer even mourn.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
