Falling when I Shouldn't

Falling when I Shouldn't

I'm falling for you when I know I shouldn't
I'm falling for you when I promised I wouldn't
This is not supposed to happen you and me
Never would I have thought we would be
You hurt me so bad, My heart broke in two
It hurt for me to even even look at you
You came back around, acting like the day we first met
But you seriously hurt me something that's not easy to forget
You said you changed, that you want me its true
And you made my heart jump when you finally said I love you
I want to trust you but my mind says no your not good for me
And I think of all the times you've laughed at my heartfelt pleas
"Give him another chance, he really loves you" is what I hear in my ear
But my mind is stronger and doesn't want you near
Your smiles, your eyes, your lips, your hands
Are steady pleading but I can't, I shouldn't take that chance
I'm falling for you when I know I shouldn't, going down the same road
But I steady dig myself deeper into this same old hole
I'm going to learn my lesson, one day I'm going to take a stand
But it won't be today as I slowly take your hand
I shouldn't have fallen back in love with you, its just not right
But I think you'll do a good job making up for it...the rest of our lives!!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
