Erosion
I am an island,
alone in a sea of people.
They brush my shores, briefly, and then recede.
Like the ocean, gently licking the sands,
but never partaking.
Each wave rolls in,
sometimes taking when it goes,
sometimes leaving pleasure or pain.
But always leaving
For I am an island
People,
like the sea, are life,
yet often taste of brine
and fail to nourish.
For I am an island
I am an island,
alone, lost in a sea,
drifting without direction or anchor,
as each wave erodes my shores.
Till there is nothing left to take.
alone in a sea of people.
They brush my shores, briefly, and then recede.
Like the ocean, gently licking the sands,
but never partaking.
Each wave rolls in,
sometimes taking when it goes,
sometimes leaving pleasure or pain.
But always leaving
For I am an island
People,
like the sea, are life,
yet often taste of brine
and fail to nourish.
For I am an island
I am an island,
alone, lost in a sea,
drifting without direction or anchor,
as each wave erodes my shores.
Till there is nothing left to take.
