Poem Commentary

I'd like to say that this boy is a completely fictional, one-of-a-kind character . . . I'd LIKE to be able to say that!

Don't Need No Skoolin'

Don't Need No Skoolin'
i don't need no skoolin'
i no all I need to no
i no bout huntin' and fishin'
lovin' and fightin'
and no how to catch and throw
what goods Geography
i can find my way 'round
and those people cross the ocean
they want me they can find me
right here in my home town
history's the same waste of time
who cares 'bout that cromwell dude
and noin who won that north south brawl
or even the one they call WW2
aint gonna buy me no food
the only good things 'bout school rite now
are Mary Ellen White and that ending bell
well the food in the caf is pretty good
and the time in phys ed is a blast
but the rest of the place can go to . . .
well you know, that bad place
I aint suppose to swear

Loved this. The tragedy is so many young people live by it. this was endearing.

Thanks Marie! It's fun to write silly poems.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
