    Destiny Gone By

I sit here thinking about you.
    Thinking about the time
    That we spent together.
I remember it as if it
    Had only happened yesterday.
    Why were we given
    So little time together
    When we should have
    Been given an eternity?
    I thought for sure
    That we were “destined”
To be together and be happy.
    Just spending the rest
    Of our lives together.
    Now I sit here reminiscing,
    Just running these memories
    Through my head and
    Wishing that things could
    Have been different
    Between the two of us.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
