Cold And Hot to Fog

Cold And Hot to Fog

Keep my perspectives clear oh Lord

In the courage of faith forward.

Keep my heart aware of your love

To forge me deeply onward.

I cannot grasp the state of my soul

Whether to glory’s deepening or death

Thy trials are fog to my judgement

Love blown warm then cold as winters breath.

Bring me to the clearing of the forest

Where neither pines nor poplars hide the son

And the lakes run clear to the shores

And open paths in the open run.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
