Against Idols

Father God, to trust in you is wisdom

All other trusts are trust in aspects

Aspects mimicking or mirroring the eternal

Bur mimic, mirror as aspect fills their sum.

All the scope of human truth displayed

Like  waters flowing for a span

Become in the sunlight of your word

The vapors of fact on the fade.

Let all the earth and heavens expanse

Exhale their pride and pomp displayed

And all the secrets of earth revealed

Review their so exalted stance

Mystery revealed is mystery deeper still.
