    Poem Commentary

It deals with growing up and making adult choices

    change

    My life was changing
    Faster than I thought
    I was becoming bigger everyday
    I was gaining weight

After sleeping with my boyfriend one night
I thought about a lot of things
    Was I pregnant?
Was I going to be a mom?

    Just to make sure
    I went to the doctors
I took a pregnancy test and then waited in the exam room
    "Congratulations. Your nine weeks pregnant"

I went home with many consequences lyed down ahead of me
    Do i keep the baby?
Do i have an abortion and kill the baby?
I finally called my boyfriend and he came over.

When he arrived, I was sitting on the swing on my porch
When I told him the results he came and sat down with me
"I will support you with whatever you decide to do"
And I decided to keep the baby

Being a mom at seventeen wasnt going to be easy
six months and a week later
I delivered a healthy baby girl named Emily
And ever since that day, my life has changed

no i dont really have a baby but I liked the idea with a baby would work

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
