Balloons go to Heaven

Balloons go to Heaven

String held tightly in his hand, a balloon above his head,
"don't let it go, or it will fly" is what his mother said.
He reaches up, but it's too late, his mother waves goodbye,
his eyes begin to fill with tears, and then he starts to cry.
His mother kneels, and tells him, "your balloon will go so far,"
"for the Angels, they are waiting, right behind a star."
They love the gifts we send them, in heaven, they surround,
all the loving people, taken from the ground.
She wipes his tears, and hugs him, "your Grandma, knows it's true,"
"the balloon that went to heaven, was for her, and it's from you."

I am very happy to know that someone has covered this topic. I'm sure many of people have let go of a balloon, hoping it would reach Heaven. It's a very emotional poem. I give it a 10!

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
